It’s obvious that Michelle and Barack Obama work hard on their marriage. With such hectic schedules and so much responsibility they have to.  Over the weekend the couple was spotted on a Labor Day weekend dinner date.

With Barack being in politics from the very beginning and having to travel often the couple has learned how to stay close in a sometimes distant relationship.  Now that they are a family in the White House Michelle says she and the President keep at the forefront that they are two people building a life together.

Along with ensuring that they get together as a couple for weekend dates where they can actually communicate with one another (can’t talk at the movies) the couple says doing such things is also important for your kids to see. After two decades of marriage the first family  learned that their daughters Sasha and Malia take a lot of pride in watching their mother and father show affection to one another. It makes them feel secure and loved  to know their parents still adore one another.

So we usually go out to dinner and what I’ve found interesting is that our girls like it. My oldest daughter says it makes me feel good to see you and dad hold hands, you know, and we forget about that. We think that they don’t care about that but they like the fact that they know that we love each other. That gives them security. So sometimes you lose sight of that when you think, ‘well as long as are taking care of the kids, the kids are okay.’ The kids want you to have a life together, they want to know that my mother and father love each other and if they love each other that much, they are going to love me.

So she just made that statement over the last months and we kinda looked at each other like ‘Wow’. So for all the parents out there, have your date nights because its important to kids to know that their parents are connecting.

That is such wonderful advice.  While trying to take care of kids parents often do neglect themselves and their intimate relationship with their mate. Making sure the relationship is healthy is first and foremost. If that falls apart everything else falls apart as a result. Which means the kids will not be happy.

 I’m sure Mr. President takes good care of his first lady when the worlds eyes are not upon them.. He’s probably sings “Sexual Healing” to her in his boxers just because.. They are really a sweet couple.  Barack and Michelle honestly have to be the coolest people to ever live in the White House..
