In the midst of New York DJ’s hating on Nicki Minaj accusing the “Starships” performer of being more pop than hop, hip hops top female rapper has officially released her single “Champion” to remind the naysayers that she has the heart of a champion and will keep it moving.
The rapper heavy song features Nas, Drake and Young Jeezy.
Nicki made to announcement to fans on Twitter yesterday, telling a fan who asked whether the track would have a visual accompaniment:
Nicki said
“Yes. Champion is next urban single.”
Most of Nicki’s album is indeed rap. In addition to spitting bar after bar on her rap hits the New York bred rapper threw on a few extra tracks that are pop.
“Starships” being one of those songs; the song is actually beautiful if you take the time to listen to the words.
“Champion” is also filled with beautiful lyrics.
