Jordan Ramos is 21-years-old and considers herself a plus size girl. Most recently Miss Ramos along with a few friends visited a local pub and experienced a bit of “size” discrimination.
The plus size woman has accused the bouncers at her local pub of discrimination after she was banned from dancing on the bar because she was told she was too fat.
Ramos, a student at the University of Iowa, who describes herself as ‘plus-sized’, says she was with friends at Union Bar in Iowa City last month when she tried to climb onto the bar.
Miss Ramos says she was told to get back on the floor because she ‘was not pretty enough’ and was ‘obviously pregnant’.
ABC reports the bouncer told Miss Ramos the bar was at capacity during a night out on March 3.
She told the network she waited until a few girls stepped off to make room and tried a second time to stand on the platform – but was stopped again.
Miss Ramos said a friend confronted the manager, but he refused to discuss the matter and asked the women to leave.
‘There was only one difference: I am a plus-sized individual,’ she told ABC.
‘The bouncer said “Look, you will never get up on this platform. Go back to the dance floor where you belong.”‘
She returned to the bar again on April 14, and was again rejected.
‘He said, “You’re not pretty enough and you’re pregnant.” I said, “I can tell you with 100 percent certainty that I am not pregnant.”
‘He then looked at my stomach and said, “You obviously are.” They knew I was not pregnant; it was there way of calling me fat without having to actually say it,’ she said.
Miss Ramos filed a complaint with the Human Rights Commission, but officials told her they could not investigate because size discrimination is not illegal.
The incidents, she said, have made her question her worth.
She told the Iowa City Press: ‘It made me start questioning myself and thinking, “Are my friends so much better than me?” I know they’re thinner, but those bouncers made them seem more valuable.’
Now, if she would just put that much effort into losing some weight… SMH Most of the time they don’t even let men dance on the bars… It’s just not a good look.. People do themselves a lot of damage by denying the fact that we live in a vain world..
IS THE BAR WRONG OR IS SHE WRONG?

IS SHE WRONG FOR SUING?
That's what his fat ass gets.. Shed some of that weight bwoi!
Sorry, but fat or skinny….that CLEARLY….was not what that was MADE FOR….WHETHER SOMEBODY TO SEE IT OR NOT!! #WTF?? SMH
For starters WHY would she return to the club!?.. &yeah she's not pretty&too heavy to be climbing on any bar..&she knew it because she waited for a few people to get down AFTER she was told NOT to go up. Not sure how much of a case she has seeing that dancing on the bar is probably an insurance hazard anyway. &lastly… Her friends ALL need make overs too!
Im a size 16 and there would be no way in hell I would try to get up on a bar..its not lady like ANYWAYS! I dont think it was her weight..if that was her picture, it was her face, and then the weight. She looks sloppy and If I ran a bar with nothing but plus Size women on my bar…her Ass wouldn't be on my shit either
Is she was in VIP and they had paid for bottle service I could understand.. But just dancing on the bar? Clubs always choose attractive women to dance on the bar. It makes for great memories..
^key word.. Attractive……..
Humans don't realize whether she big or what she have a outgoing personality & love doing those things & she is happy , I've notice a lot of big people is like that. I don't condone getting on top of the counter but if it was a sexy skinny girl with big boobs & ass I guaranteed u she wouldn't be banned @ all , so I sue to & now she can laugh her way to the bank if she win.
May be she wana create a history. What abt that pals?
she ought to be confident enough to know what she can and cant do.. I cant get on top the bar… but I can groove in VIP and on a stage… I dont feel bad for her… she didnt get fat over night. loose it or embrace it…*I'mplussizetoo…
Are the counters built to stabilize her weight plus the other girls? Probably not.
Just her? Maybe so.
But is it fun dancing alone? No
Get over it.
If she can make a case — good luck!
I can see it getting tossed out.
I understand the arguments and everyone's perspective, but I just wanted to clarify that I am not suing the bar and never made plans to.
LMAO
Jordan Ramos Why is ABC saying you are suing? Did the way they treated you really make you question your worth??
I just read through the article and I could not find where it says I am suing, but I can understand if there is some confusion because it says I tried to contact the Human Rights Commission here in Iowa City. I just wanted the Human Rights Commission to do an investigation and just to make sure the employees were treating each of their customers with respect. I can assure everyone I am not suing Union or looking to make money. I just want to raise awareness. As to your question about if I questioned my worth, yes I really did. I honestly believe I am a beautiful individual (the picture posted is TERRIBLE, but they wanted me to look mad so I cannot really control that) and I believe I am as valuable as every other person in this world, so it definitely made me step back and think something was wrong with me. I know people are not always going to agree with me on this issue, but I just wanted to offer my perspective
It was discrimination and if u look at Jordan's profile pic she is just as pretty as anyone else in a bar.
We very much live in a vain society but when u reach a certain age looks should not be the only thing u have to offer.
Have some humility and quit being so insulting. It makes no sense. This is not directed at anyone but I've been reading the comments for the past few days and it's sad that society thinks some people are better than others.

Also, as more articles are being posted the wording has changed. This was not a bar or a counter I was asking to dance on. This was a built in, huge, platform structure specifically for people to dance on.
Skinny girls are better.
