Skittles, Taste The Rainbow

Skittles have become the new truth in the replacement of ‘Morpheus’ pills. When will we as black people be able to taste the rainbow or even see one? Rainbows come after the rain, but it’s forever pouring torrential thunderstorms on our heads while we stand there without an umbrella getting soaked.

Travon Martin he’s really all I can think of and I didn’t even know the young man. Why? Because he’s come to symbolize the struggle we’ve dealt with since being brought here on the slave ships. His story is so tragic, so sad, and so unnecessary it can’t be talked about too much. We can’t become so desensitized that we let this young mans death be in vain. We are ALL Trayvon Martin!!

Race is the elephant in the room that always sparks debate no matter what your opinion is or what side of the issue you believe in. But now that elephant is so enormous it’s busting through the ceiling, doors, and shattering all the windows in the house we tried to keep it in. We can’t keep feeding this beast, then acting like it doesn’t exist. It’ll never go away and my people of brown skin will never be treated equally and because of that we’ve grown beyond tired! We’ve had enough!

And by looking through the comments posted online  about Trayvon it seems like some people have no idea what we’re tired of and why we as a people are furious right now. It’s about Trayvon AND the existence that we have to live as black people in America. We’re tired of being followed, frisked, and shot by the same police that are supposed to protect us. DWB (driving while black) isn’t an excuse anymore, we’ve been hip to police changing the reports to fit whatever their version of shooting an unarmed black person is! Tired of being routinely stopped for nothing and wondering if we’re gonna make it out alive! We’re tired of the excuses given by people that aren’t even racist but try to rationalize the murder of Trayvon and thousands of other black people like him. We’re tired of being treated like suspects, even in death.

• HELL NO it’s not acceptable to Leave OUR son in the morgue 3 days unidentified!!!
• HELL NO its not ok to drug test OUR dead son but not his murderer!!!
• HELL NO we’re not accepting the Geraldo excuse that the murder was justified because he had on a hoodie!!!
• HELL NO we don’t care what Zimmerman’s race is!! He murdered OUR son because he was BLACK like me, so it’s a race crime!!!
• HELL NO we’re not accepting that Trayvon’s race played no factor in his death Zimmerman just is an idiot that thought he looked “suspicious”!!
• HELL NO we ain’t accepting your version that after being stalked & attacked you killed OUR son in self defense!!!
• HELL NO its not ok for OUR sons murderer to leave the scene with the murder weapon & clothes stained in OUR sons blood!
• HELL NO it’s no ok for OUR son to lay crying for help all alone before being murdered in cold blood!
• HELL NO it’s not ok for the police to try everything to cover up OUR sons death instead of investigate it and arrest a man for murder!
• HELL NO it’s not acceptable to tell the kids at school to not talk about OUR sons death or offer them counseling!!
• HELL NO to ANY other excuse you can think of,  OUR SON ain’t coming home again and We’ve had enough!!!

How much more are we supposed to take? Really??? How many more of us have to be killed before its ok to be fed up? Don’t tell me I’m not supposed to be mad! I was mad when you murdered Troy Davis, I’m furious that you killed Trayvon Martin!! You killed my son!!

Wake up people!! It’s been real in these streets forever, but HELL NO it’s not cool or acceptable that my son dies in cold blood for NO reason and we’re given the blue skittles!!  No I’m not believing this fairy tale that we’re all equal and singing “We shall overcome!” I’m not turning the other cheek, my face is WAY too swollen from all the hits I’ve taken since slavery. I don’t wanna hear excuses on why my son was murdered. Don’t try and appease me by stepping down temporarily police chief, I know you’re racist ass can’t wait to get back to work when you think the coasts clear! I’m not eating the blue skittles this time! OUR son’s DEAD!!

Lebron James and Dwayne Dade who were listed as his favorite athletes on Trayvon Martin's Facebook page, along with the entire Miami Heat team put their Hoodies Up For Trayvon.

Haven’t you had enough yet? Have you talked to your child about the killing of my son? If you haven’t you’re doing them a disservice! Don’t let them walk around singing the Lil’ Wayne word for word and knowing how to drop it low but know nothing about Trayvon’s death or why it happened! Don’t YOU sit there knowing everything that happened on Basketball Wives and Love & Hip-Hop but know nothing about Trayvon’s murder! Don’t post another word about your day until you spread the message of OUR sons murder! Don’t sip on that Ciroc, making P. Diddy more money without demanding he dance his black ass to one of these rallies or spread the word of OUR son! Don’t have your child leave out the house in Air Jordan’s without demanding Jordan finally stand for something other than himself and support Trayvon’s life! Our kids our dying for his shoes, its unacceptable for him to remain silent! We’ve had enough! Don’t support another Madea movie without Tyler Perry taking his ass to one of these rallies or spreading the word of OUR son!

Miami Heat I LOVE the pic with the hoodies on! But Lebron & D. Wade make a statement, say something, and get your ass to a rally! A tweet ain’t enough! A picture in a hood ain’t enough!

In the middle of writing this article DWADE spoke out:

“As a father, this hits home. This situation hit home for me because last Christmas, all my oldest son wanted as a gift was hoodies. So when I heard about this a week ago, I thought of my sons. I’m speaking up because I feel it’s necessary that we get past the stereotype of young, black men and especially with our youth.

And so did Lebron James:

“A lot of us are fathers,” LeBron James said. “A lot of us have young boys and for us to be in the position that we’re in, we’re happy to be able to shed light (on the) situation.”

We are hungry and you cant keep feeding us blue skittles while you take from our community! We’ve accepted that long enough and we’re tired! Oprah stand for my son! Rihanna, Mya, Megan Good, Olivia I don’t care about your cute pose and tight skirt, until you stand for my son! Jay-Z, Beyonce I don’t wanna see another pic of Blue Ivy until you show support for OUR son! Rick Ross, Lil’ Wayne, and alot of other rappers you told my son it was cool to wear his jeans to his ankles showing his drawers, get high, sell crack, and bust his gun and we swallowed the blue skittles and supported your nonsense. Now stand for my sons death publicly or go away! 50 cent I LOVE what you’re doing in Africa but my son was murdered right here! Now take a stand for that! Tiger Woods get your 1/16th black ass out here and talk about my son, because when they yell “Nigger!” on the golf course you’re the ONLY one they’re talking about! We support YOU and you can’t even claim US! Enough of the nonsense, STAND for OUR son!! Floyd Mayweather I love you as a fighter, but I don’t wanna see any of y’all throwing money in the club or doing any other coonery until you stand for OUR son!

Y’all remaining quiet or wearing a hood isn’t enough! Trey Songz, Drake, Idris Elba our community has supported you, now support us and stand for OUR son! I’m swallowing the red skittles and everyone’s accountable! Now stand for OUR son Trayvon Martin or go away! We don’t need you! OUR son was murdered, and no matter your position (President Obama) or how much money you have (Oprah) to some you’ll always just be another negro!!!! Now wake the phuck up!!! Trayvon’s life meant something, it means something and so do WE now stand for that!!

No matter your color if you know nothing about OUR son’s death I have NO use for you in my life! Stand for OUR son!! We are ALL Trayvon Martin and deserve the right to walk to the store for Iced Tea and Skittles!! Now Stand for Yourselves!!!
