Tyler Perry’s romantic Good Deeds, from Lionsgate film, opened at No. 2 with $16 million over the weekend. Perry’s movies often debut north of $20 million, but that’s for the Madea series, which features the director-writer-actor playing Madea.

I went to see ‘Good Deeds’ yesterday and I kind of enjoyed the movie, minus the 5 big black girls behind me who had somehow found my pleasant movie theatre and invaded it with their loud mouths, smacking popcorn, kicking seats with their Air Jordan sneakers and taking calls during the movie. But let’s not be hasteful and call them ghetto.

Anyway, like I was saying.  I enjoyed the movie although it was a bit  unrealistic.  First off the break-up between Tyler Perry (Mr. Deeds)  and his fiance’ who was played by Gabrielle Union.. That was the most amicable break-up I’ve ever seen in my life.. No tears, no nothing..  #2 So how does the janitor who was played by Thandie Newton think that she has access to  scoop the HNIC (Played by Tyler Perry) of the company she cleans for?  Great acting by the way Thandie..  But it does not stop there.  Man, so how are you just going to up and buy plane tickets to go to Africa the next day? I mean even expedited it’s still going to take a few weeks to get a passport..  Come On Son.

Other then that the movie was cool. It was Tyler’s fist jab at acting without playing the character Madea. He did a good job but he definitely needs to enlist help with writing better scripts since Madea is out of the picture now. Gabrielle Union pretty much played her normal part.  A monotone character.. I love Gabby but it’s definitely time that she steps her acting game up. I want to see her partake in a role like Denzel Washington did in Training Day and just totally blow us away by playing a part completely opposite of what she is accustomed to.

Phylicia Rashad played Tyler’s mom and she did a cool job.. Pretty standard..  But this Brian White guy.. After he went on that rant about black women being this and that knowing he was married to a non black woman I thought against going to see Tyler’s movie.. (Yes, it was just that serious)  But It’s Tyler Perry, and I didn’t want to miss out so I made it my business to go see the movie.. Brian who plays Tyler’s brother was a complete azzhole during the film who bad mouthed black women and dated white women.. He obviously played his part very well because he was only being who he is in real life.. An azzhole who doesn’t like black women.. So I’ll just give him a ZERO for his acting skills.

Well I guess I accidentally gave my unsolicited opinion of the movie.. Initially, my only intention was to report that Tyler made a nice profit over the weekend.. Toodles.
