The Bullying Of Poor School Age Children For Lack Of Decent Clothing

Extreme poverty in Africa where parents can't even get a minimum wage job

I woke up this morning with a Facebook notification that someone had responded to one of the comments on my website. I click the link and it’s yet another person upset with me about THIS STORY.

I was surprised at how many people felt enough anger to lash out at me for speaking the truth and then go right back to their POOR world raising kids who are crippled in life from the very start because they have not one but two sh@tty parents.

Somehow they think because they were selfish to begin with and bring a child into the world in poverty that it’s okay to ship that child off to school looking poor.  They fail to realize that there will be other kids in the class who also have poor parents, but their clothes don’t show it.

The way your child looks is a representation of you. Just because you walk around looking like a bum does not mean you have the right to make your child look like that.

To me knowing the harsh realities of life it would be stupid to tell a child that material possession don’t mean anything in life when that is not the world we live in.

The more I talk to people outside of my immediate circle the more I realize that parents are crippling their kids for life. Do you know how much self esteem it takes to grow up and become the first black president? How much high self esteem it takes to say that you are going to go to law school and be a lawyer? You are going to speak to people from all over the world and get them to respect you and put their faith and trust in you.

Believe it or not that HIGH SELF ESTEEM starts at a very young age. If you don’t nurture your kids self esteem while they are young you are slowing them down. People seem  uninterested in breeding winning kids. It seems to be all about just providing food, and shelter and saying I love you.

Meanwhile you have the rich parents whose kids already have a self esteem head start vying to get their kids into the best preschools just so that they can be smart too and associate with other well off families.  They breed them from birth to get in higher social circles and be successful. Then you have NORMAL parents who make sure their kids go to school looking decent.

Kids whose parents take good care of them. Future Presidents

Other people exist inside that class room other than your kid. Do you really want your kid being the loner in the corner who gets teased, the  one nobody likes?

Instead of screaming at me they should of spent that time learning how to sew since they can’t afford to buy their child any nice clothes.

This is NOT AFRICA, or some poor third world country. This is America where people want the best.  Frankly if you  spend time fighting against the reality that the world is materialistic and expect your kid to be blind to it and expect other kids to not talk bad about your kid who looks like a bum. You are  only sending your child into an ambush. Those are the kids who grow up and have troubles with the opposite sex. CONFIDENCE is the key to taking over the world. With confidence you can achieve anything.

50 Cent Writes An Anti-Bullying Book

Lastly, I don’t understand why so many people are ok with being poor. I mean you grow up not having and that is supposed to light a fire under you to do great things so that when you have your kids they won’t have to grow up poor and go without like you did.  But it’s crazy that people actually grow up, don’t work hard to achieve anything in life and then have kids and start the cycle all over again.

AND, want the rest of the world to take pity on them and not say mean things to them.. That is just not life.  Like I said if not being able to provide for your kid doesn’t set a light under you to get up and get some money and make something out of yourself NOTHING will.

Fuc materials. When its all said and done, once we die, all the material BULLSHIT we worked so hard for ain coming with us. People put way 2 much emphasis on material things. But, I’m in the wrong here. Let’s blame theparents for notbeing rich and abale to buy their kids 150 dollar pairs of shoes.

Thank you for bring light to this subject; if society wants to ignore the truth then they are lying to themselves. Every child has the right to live up to his or her potential and have a chance to follow their dreams. Poverty is real, children are in danger and these parents need to give a better life for their children.

Shaun Bullock Decent clothing don’t cost $150. Secondly why are you so comfortable and okay with not being able to give your child the best? Does that not make you want to at least try to do better?

It’s very foolish. I grew up not having name brand clothes until high school. So certain kids picked on me besides being quiet and intelligent. I’m doing well currently and those same people who bullied me are bums now. Material things count for the shallow individuals and can go outta style or be lost. While intelligence, character, and morals cannot be taken away and bring the genuine person in our lives.

How do you know they aret trying tho? I know people who work very hard and still can’t afford decent clothes. You know, once you have a house, and a car, they’re not gonna pay themselves off.

And I never said I wascomfortale with not being ale 2 give a kid the best. And part of bullying doescome from cheap clothes. I know people who came 2 school with brand new clothes on but, bcause they aren’t brand name, they got bullied. Bullying is way different from when yu were in school.

Name brand doesn’t equal nice clothing. Buying presentable Target clothes for your child does not mean you don’t love them. Obama even states he was poor growing up and didn’t have a lot but he made something of himself. Clothes don’t make the man and continuing to tell kids that material things matter instead of being good stewards of whatever you may have is failing them.

They are using excuses instead of finding solutions to fix the problem. Why does a child have to go to school wearing Aeropostale, Hollister, Air Jordan…etc. Education is the most important thing for a child to make it in this world. Make sacrifices, give up cigarettes, beer, alcohol, and other luxaries so your child have a chance in this world.

The problem is people need to STOP having kids thinking they can survive on just LOVE. NOOO! Yes you have to love support and care for your children but a financial responsibility comes with that as well! Stop having kids to keep a man. Stop laying down popping out babies you cannot afford! Depending on the government to take care of what YOU produced. YES, times are hard but the way some of yall popping out babies i can’t tell! People aren’t waiting until they finish school and are financially stable to have babies anymore. People aren’t thinking about the NEEDS of the child! NO you don’t have to buy your kids 150 dollar shoes or the top name brand clothes to look decent! I wore walmart jeans & sometimes payless sneakers as a kid. My parents didn’t have alot of money. But it was CLEAN and decent! Not handed down from 2 or 3 different people. Sometimes i got named brand clothes sometimes i didn’t but i looked GOOD! Hair was always done. Parents that is YOUR responsibility!! Yes bullying is wrong regardless and parents need to teach their kids about RESPECT but don’t set your child up for failure. You know it’s a cruel world

thinkin bout cuttin this ask kissy, the more I see the more it bugs me that shallow opinions keep popin up. Firstly I know many wealthy kids who had everything but no confidence or self esteem as iv heard said by them so many times they wud rather less material wealth and more time love and attention off there parents! I grew up in a family where due to change in circumstance my family was poor for a while and I had hand me downs and not the best brands. I never got bullied tho as I was clean tidy and could look after myself. There’s nothing wrong with my self esteem and confidence and I’m doing just fine!I’m actually a home suport worker for mums with young children. To give your child best possible start according to profetionals most impotant this as fact firstly LOVE, EMOTIONAL SUPPORT, FOOD, PATIENCE, SHELTER EDUCATION and SUPPORTIVE community!

Shaun Bullock Yes, It is a state of mind. I grew up very poor, but I NEVER had the same mind state as the people around me. I always saw bigger and better things in my future, I desired better things, so I worked hard to get better things.. When I was little I thought being poor was the worst thing in the world. I used to tell my grandma when I was 6 that i would have a maid when I got older. And I got older and did just that.

Also as a teenager I slowly start to move towards people who had high goals people who wanted things out of life. If you don’t want much out of life you don’t have the steam to go after and chase dreams.. A person with a POOR mindset does not understand that his way of thinking is what really causes him to live in poverty.. But that’s taking it to another level I know even less people will be able to understand that.

There are so many people in countries who don’t have the opportunities we have in the United States. Everyone wants to blame the government. But no one wants to blame themselves. I take personal blame for everything i don’t have in my life. It’s my fault.

We all want everything to come easy, life is hard. People simply have to accept that it’s going to take super hard work to get somewhere or simply accept barely getting by. My article only does no make sense to people with a POOR mindset. Cause they can not see out of their immediate environment.

As much as some parents feel bad they cnt give financialy to children it really is the basics that shapes a person not material. I figure kissy has no kids. Look it up on any expert sites or social services books. Money is lesser to the love care attention and quality time spent teaching and nurturing you kids

Stephanie Walker SHALLOW!! DO YOU NOT SEE YOUR PROFILE PHOTO CHILD. You are calling me shallow for being able to articulate MY OPINION ON MY BLOG, meanwhile you are posing half naked with a TACKY tattoo and a super long phony pony. I’m shallow but you are seeking attention.. That is what I mean about a POOR mindset, you don’t even understand that your profile presentation is going to make people look down on you. YOU don’t understand that no man high caliber man will be interested in you based off of that photo. Your mental thoughts are just not relevant to me.. Truthfully. So by all means cut my page off.. Cause my next blog might be about women with TACKY AZZ HOOD RAT TATTOOS.

I gotta quote you real quick “life is hard”. YES its ver hard so, don’t expect every parent to send their kids 2 school with decent clothes because, some people got it VERY hard. I won’t judge a parent based on what their child wears because, I don know what kind of position their family is in. So saying that the parent are wrong for notbeing able 2 buy therkids “decent” clothes is just a bad statement. Let’s not forget how high the unemployment rate is. How can smeone who had a good job and gt laid off afford to get their kids new clotheswhen they have 2 decidebetween wether the child is going 2 eat, have a roof, or look good.

Everybody struggling is not popping out kids willy nilly. Just because you lost your job doesn’t mean that illness is going to pass you by. Hospital and medical bills make up a crap load of people’s debt now. There are many different reasons for people having to cut back now but you best believe it’s smarter to cut back on clothing expenses than food or gas and electric

Who wants to appear wealthy when there not? Does that not mean there ashamed of where they live and the real background of where they came from or who they are? I love myself inside and out and I don’t need to pull other people down to make myself feel good! You talk about mentality but you show yourself up for talking about my hair and my tatoo. I could say a few things about your fake apearance but I won’t lower my own standards as this is about kids and doing your best for them! Not about peoples appearance or taste in tatoos or clothes. Again proves my point about shallowness
