Nicki Minaj is rounding out the year with a beautiful life. Unlike others the “Super Bass” rapper dreamed of these moments.
She has an OPI nail polish line, she has her own MAC lipstick. Mattel honored her with by making a Nicki Minaj Pink Friday Barbie that will be sold to benefit charity. And this past Friday Nicki Minaj was honored with Billboards 2011 Rising Star Award .
She took to the staged assisted up by her part time boyfriend/assistant Safaree (Nicki is a loyal person). As Nicki got into her acceptance speech tears of joy began to fill her eyes as she enjoyed yet another “Moment For Life”. She thanked her millions of ‘Barbz’ teenybooper fans who believed in and she thanked Billboard for believing in her before her Pink Friday album dropped.
Nicki Minaj gave a short, sweet, graceful speech.
I just know that I am so incredibly thankful and grateful for a couple little kids. Maybe a few million, I call them my Barbz and I know they are not in here today but I know they will hear me say this. Barbz, I love you so much for being by my side for such a long time. Billboard, Thank you so much for recognizing me. Even before Superbass and even before Pink Friday, you believed in me.
All of the women tonight that have been recognized, I am so proud of you for showing me that this can be done, and that this is possible and for showing so many girls that you can be your own boss and that you can make music that you want and that you can project an image that you believe in.
When I first heard Nicki Minaj was thanking Taylor Swift for something I immediately thought to myself oh lawd, please don’t let Nicki be on some fake ish like these other celebrities tend to do from time to time. Immediately after she accepted her award, she sat down with Robin Roberts to discuss why she is thankful for Taylor Swift who recieved the “Woman Of The Year Award” and to my delight and surprise it was a real, heartfelt, grateful reason that she gave thanks to Taylor. Taylor Swift just like the little girl who Nicki joined on the Ellen Degeneres show loves her some “Super Bass.“
First I saw a radio interview and they asked her what song she liked and she said, ‘Can it be a song that didn’t come out yet’ and she started rapping Super Bass. Then she tweeted that she liked ‘Super Bass’ and then all of her fans who had never heard about Nicki Minaj went and purchased it. After Taylor tweeted that, ‘Super Bass’ climbed up 80 something spots the same day on Itunes. And that is why people don’t understand why I keep on Thanking Taylor Swift. This is real.
There is something about Nicki that makes me excited to see her achieve so many things. Maybe because she is a woman like me who simply does what she feels like doing instead of trying to be something she is not. And like Drake said, she is doing everything she said she would do.
Check out the wonderful video of the event and the Interview

Look people they talk about you when your doing right or wrong so just do it your way.You go , , Ms Minaj .
And they wonder why record sales are down. What ever happened to talent? It got replaced with a synthesized music and people.
Lakisha Watson-Moore You don’t feel that Nicki Minaj has talent?
I read your article, Why Keep Attracting Bad Men… http://www.askkissy.com/2011/06/24/why-you-keep-attracting-bad-men-get-you-some-louboutin-shoes/. Great job!. Enjoyed it.
Awesome Kreyòl Qüeen Thanks for reading it.
I love a straight shooter. More women need to know these things. Ever read “Why Men Love Bitches”? from reading some of your blog, I think you can do a better job. Keep on Sis! Blessed Love.
meaning a better job than Sherry Argov, the author of “Why Men Love Bitches”.
I swear Ms. Kissy I tried to listen and I just could not understand the phenomenon. I love seeing women excel in industries typically dominated by men. Heck, I work in one but I just do not get her. I have been into hip hop since I was a little girl and I understand that she is attractive but talent wise I do not get it.
As a fan of rap and hip hop I know there are other female artists who are far more talented and deserving of an opportunity. Sadly they do not have a forty inch behind, refused to make in the industry on their knees or backs so they can’t break through. It’s the society we live in. Sex appeal is more important than talent. So the requirement to make it in the industry these days is a sex tape and $40k in plastic surgery.
It’s also sad that hip hop only wants to promote one female rapper at a time unlike their male counterparts. Hip hop no longer wants to support a potpourri of talented female rappers. I miss the 90′s when we had different kinds of female MC’s. You had the hard core ones, the sexy ones and the ones who would rap about politics. Now everything is synthesized just like so called rappers.
Lakisha Watson-Moore Wow. I can respect that!!
stop hating kisha
Hating? I cannot hate someone I do not know. I am not a fan of her music snd that is it. From your comment you probably are and that is nice. I just provided my analysis and if offended you that is fine. How about to each their own?
