J Cole debuts his video “Lost Ones” this week. Although new to you and I, it’s not a new video. The video was filmed 3 years ago before the Roc Nation rapper even had a record deal. (The Power of Believing in Yourself and envisioning your future)
“Lost One’s” is a song off of his new album “Cole’s World” about abortion and sends a strong message about the repercussions of having unprotected sex without thinking about the consequences.
Their is a lot of value in this song. J Cole starts out trying to convince the lady to have a abortion. Common lines you might hear from a male in this situation.
Then he flips it and speaks from the perspective of the woman:
“Who be claiming that they love you just to get up in them drawers
Knowing all the right things to say, I let you hit it raw, muthafucka!
Now I’m pregnant, you don’t wanna get involved, muthafucka?
Tryna take away a life, is you God, muthafucka?
I don’t think so! This a new life up in my stomach
Regardless if I’m your wife, this new life here I’mma love it
I ain’t budging I just do this by my muthafucking self
See my mama raised me without no motherfucking help from a man“And at the end the rapper spits the cold hearted truth:
“He spoke the magic words and on the same day he fucked her
Now she wide open, she put a ring up on his finger if she could
But he loved her cause the pussy good but she ain’t no wife though
Uh oh! She telling him she missed her period like typos
He panicking, froze up like a mannequin
A life grows inside, and now he asking “is it even mine?”
What if this bitch ain’t even pregnant, dog, could she be lying?”
The value in this story is that it’s a real story a typical of young adults who have unprotected sex without thinking of the consequences. The man saying the sex was good, but you ain’t wife material and how do I know it’s mines or if she is really pregnant or not. And the response from the lady is a common response you may hear from a young, unmarried black woman “my momma raised me by myself, so I can raise my kid by myself. And the cycle continues..
I think it would of been great for J Cole to add a message at the end of this video to BREAK THE CYCLE
Check out the video and let me know what you think of the video that’s been collecting dust for 3 years…
All the way around I really enjoyed this video as for the messages that it gives.

Song & video gave me the chills. One of his best, imo.
