Maia Campbell has been out of the spot light lately, but that does not meant that all is well on the home front. Maia was arrested once again.
Santa Monica officers were at the corner of Ocean and Bicknell avenues talking to a resident when they heard a vehicle coming toward them at a high rate of speed. As officers flagged down the vehicle it screeched to a stop past the limit line of a nearby stop sign.
Officers approached the driver and asked to see her driver’s license at which time she said she did not have one. Officers noted that the driver appeared to be agitated and unable to follow instructions. Due to her symptoms, officers believed she was under the influence of a controlled substance. The driver was arrested and during a subsequent search officers located a glass cylinder that contained a white substance which tested positive for cocaine. The driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence, driving without a license, a probation violation and a warrant. She was identified as Maia Campbell, 33, of Los Angeles. Her bail was set as $36,000.

Maia was also arrested in August of 2010 for driving erractic with drugs in her possession. She was diagnosed with bi-polar/manic depression and schizophrenia.

SAD to see that she still has not gotten the help that she desperately needs. But you can’t force someone to do something they don’t want to do. All you can do is pray for them. (maia nude photos)

Maia is all messed up bcuz not only is she a drug addict but she also battles with mental issues such as bipolar & schizophrania, so with that being said she will struggle with her drug addiction bcuz she won’t take care of herself and take her prescribed drugs. So sad, such a beautiful sista….

I hope she can get it together. I remember seeing a lot of sad videos about her…. I wish they would stop arresting addicts and get them help. All these funds put into the jails should be put into rehab facilities. Putting addicts in jail only hinders them.

@Shonta your response is so dead on… its not about not being able to cope with life blah, blah, blah… She suffers from schizophrenia so until she stops using street drugs and maintains her mental health via medication management and in/out patient treatment she will continue to decompensate. I think losing her mother on made matters worse…Mom was her biggest advocate and helped her with lifes issues. Mom also provided her children with safe, stable housing. Bee Bee Moore Campbell a well respected author wrote 72 hour hold loosely based on her daughters life… supporting a child with mental illness and what a family goes through obtaining involuntary commitments and treatment for a loved one.
I am pleasantly surprised to see so many comments in support of Maia, as a person with a diagnosis and going through a tough time right now it brighten’s my heart to see such caring. Blessings to Nichelle for such clarity.

@Christal I really hope you get educated about mental illness….its so not uncommon for persons who suffer from mental illness to have a co-existing diagnosis…with substance abuse. They self medicate and for some they believe the illegal drugs brings them more relief from their mental health symptoms than the mental health medications…get educated before you judge. I dont think they want you to feel sorry they want you to understand and be compassionate.
