One week after the execution of Troy Davis that had a nation of people standing still, praying, making phone calls, signing petitions and holding onto hope that ended in tears: some news comes out about why The President of Hope did not speak out or make an attempt to stop the injustice that was about to occur. Especially since even the Pope spoke out.
According to The Redding News Review: President Obama made a private attempt to save Troy Davis’ life.
“‘We looked at every possible avenue legally,’” the source reported Obama said. “‘There was not one there.’”
“‘It was a state case and I could not intervene because it wasn’t federal,’” another source reported Obama said.
The two sources claimed that Obama talked about Davis, during a private lunch meeting of about 10 select black broadcasters.
Obama said the only reason why he spoke about Harvard’s Henry Louis Gates’ case, was because he was asked by a reporter, Obama told one source.
What’s more, Obama also said that the only reason why his administration spoke out about an illegal immigrant’s case, Humberto Leal Garcia Jr., in July was because it was an international issue, where his rights were violated.
Sure, the president could have simply spoken out about Davis, the source said, but it would not have done anything.
“‘I don’t want to make this man’s death political for me.’”
I’m calling BS! to this story.. Conveniently explaining away other times he spoke out. I will need President Obama to confirm this himself, and even if he does confirm.. I know politics so……………. President Obama is up for re-election soon and with the economy the way it is, the high unemployment rate amongst blacks and him not speaking out on the Troy Davis case, Obama may have a difficult campaign up ahead.

Because Georgia’s Board of Parole and PArdons are in charge of staying executions, not even the Governor can overturn their decision. Now had it been a FEDERAL Case, then YES he and AG Holder could do something

There has been many innocent people put to death and I’ve not heard of one president saving anyone’s life. What I do know is if you do things like this for one person you will have to do the same for others and that may include releasing someone who’s guilty. Not to mention if Obama had of helped this guy I’m sure we would have never heard the end of this one!
