DJ Khaled Discusses His Use of the “N” Word, Calling Himself a Ninja [video]

So people have been getting upset with non blacks for using the “N” word forever.

Khaled says he uses it in a positve way and what’s ignorant is that when he was growing up in the hood they referred to him as “Sand Ninja” and there is no difference…

Khaled decided to speak about it. Frankly I’m more annoyed by this conversation than anything.  Everyone knows some non black people who grew up poor in the hood with them and took on the same slang and terminoligies of their surroundings.. One does have to fit in.

Some may be making an attempt to invade hip hop and others are simply being themselves.  Even Kreayshawn, that chick is ghetto as white girls come, I truly believe she is simply being herself.. She acts like a typical Oakland girl.

When people want to have conversations like this I often want to ask them when was the last time they picked up a book and read it from cover to end.  Concern yourself with other things and save the heat for when someone really uses the N word and it ends in R or nappy headed hoezh.

Is Khaled out of Pocket?

Or the longest time i thought Khaled was black, so I didn’t care. Then I turned to one of the award shows and saw that 1. He was fat 2. He wasn’t black. Hahaha. I still don’t care. I take it that I own the word, [thank all ya'll who hate it for gladly handing it over]. It’s when white people say it that I get pissed off. why do they wanna use a word in endearment that they made up to cast us out?

  5. Odo Ital via facebook, says:

People are still obsessing over a fucking word???

  6. Ani Raina Flores via facebook, says:

@prima – i know u didnt say it. Believe me, ive heard this statement 2 yrs ago from a lot of ppl. And cuz in NYC, it just seems dat way. I agree w/ u and im sad nowadays it aint da case anymore.

  7. i believe anyone can call themselves what the hell ever they want to-we dont own that word or have a patent on it….come on now-there’s other issues we could tackle 1st-

@Ani Raina Flores ~ I Didn’t Say It… Cuz, I Personally Feel We Should Stick Together.

  9. Robin Davis via facebook, says:

Im about to be very non pc. If he’s Arab arent they called sand nigga’s? So in a way he’s entitled to use it right?

  10. To put it simply, NO he doesn’t and he shouldn’t be using the word. If black people want to use it, that’s their business, that’s their choice. I can see why some black people do use it, equally I can also see why black people oppose the word. But personally no non-black person should use it.

  11. WHAT People need to do is go learn the TRUE meaning of this “IGNORANCE” learn its history, how it came to be. Why the “N” word was “giving” to us in the first place. Then You may reconsider using it to describe yourself, family and friends. Again I say “if you feel you own this word” then have it…

@ Milo So… The Baddest Bitch ….is the same as the NWord?

  13. Krista Wade via facebook, says:

Anyway, I think the problem comes in when he decides that he has the right to tell ALL black people that he is just going to call us that. Who is he to tell me what I need to accept. Sorry, I don’t like being called that. period Sounds like a mind game to me.

  14. We got Hispanics and white kids calling them self niggas. Especially out here in Miami. That’s them. As I get older I try not to use the word. Being honest. But sometimes I go nigga on some mutherfuckers. If khaled wanna be a nigga then let him be a Arab nigga. You be the judge

  15. Well technically n e 1 can b a n~~~ especially if there actin a monkey

  16. Pretty Brown Bone Lilly via facebook, says:

whats dumb was the explanation in trying to turn a bad word into a ”positive word’..lol he sounds like a damn fool.. when me and my bf was in vegas a young dude was begging for change and he ask my bf to spare some then said “come on my nigga” my bf said i was with you til you said nigga and we walked off… you cant call me that i will never respond….

  17. Ani Raina Flores via facebook, says:

@prima – well IMO nowadays what w/ hate crimes against hispanics on da rise & ppl mad @ hispanic immigrants “taking” all da jobs 4 lowEST or no pay..it seems like we r da new “niggas” of society.

  20. Prima Donna via facebook, says:

I Hear The N-Word Coming From More Hispanics In Public ~ What’s Up With THAT… I Was Told They Are The New Ninjas… I Didn’t Say It, It Was Told To Me.

  21. Andrea' NaeNae Mcdonald via facebook, says:

The “N” word means ignorant so i thought, so if he chooses to call himself ignorant why should we care?? I dont care im not one

  22. Joseph Kier via facebook, says:

I think anyone that wants to call themselves the “N” word should be able to without any controversy once so ever! If you want to use any derogatory term to describe yourself that’s fine. Just don’t get heated when someone of the opposite race uses the term. It’s a derogatory term used by people that don’t have more intellectual ways to communicate. I refuse to use the term. I don’t allow my kids to use it & I buy edited version of CD’s just so I don’t have to hear it!!! Wake Up People!!!

  23. He can call his self whatever he wants even though it is inappropriate I use it among me and my friends cause I look at it as we have over come that and a ninja isn’t a black person it can be any kind of person so to me it’s just a word that doesn’t carry any weight anymore!!!

  24. Andre Haynes via facebook, says:

Kiddy, that’s a word he can have if he want it, it’s not exclusive to Black Folk… actually, anyone considering themselves a nigga is just that… ignorant!

  25. Ardale Knox says:

I guess I’m a little liberal on this issue, I could care less. As long as you don’t just run up on me sayin’ that; especially if I don’t know you. If we have that kind of a rapport that’s fine. And honestly if you grew up & this was always apart of your culture, black or not, I’m fine with that. As long as you can distinguish your E’s & R’s From A, & more importantly KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE! If you’re around unfamiliar faces & you’re not sure how they might respond…Don’t Say It!

  26. Dana Lee via facebook, says:

Why should I even care? It’s not like it is the most fabulous thing to call yourself but then again some people carry it as a badge of honor

  27. Prima Donna via facebook, says:

Well, Let Me Apologize, Cuz God Knows I Use It When I’m Among My Own Ritz & Oreos.

  28. Prima Donna via facebook, says:

    @Milo Coney ~ Whores Say That…

  29. Dannah Wilson via facebook, says:

Omg! Kissy! I swear, my husband and I were talking about this earlier this week. Him calling himself that and saying “We Nigga!” is not appropriate!

  30. Ani Raina Flores via facebook, says:

no hes not. In NYC its been a slang word for yrs. We know whos “hood” whos not, so 2 speak.

  31. Lakeisha Owens via facebook, says:

Sure, because am sure not one!

  32. If you think the name belongs to you, or you own it! Then I guess you’ll be offended… the name is ignorant really. And has NO place (but history).

  33. If people wanna call themselves derogatory names who are we to care that’s like Trina saying she a bad bitch

  34. Milo Coney via facebook, says:

dose trina have the rite to call herself the baddest bitch?
