No one in Hollywood is making more money than Actor, director, writer Tyler Perry.  Yesterday the movie and television mogul celebrated his 42nd Birthday as Holloywood’s Highest Paid Man.

Tyler Perry, The first black producer to own a major television and film studio

Between May 2010 through May of 2011 Tyler Perry brought in 130 Million Dollars.  That puts him on top of FORBES list of  ”Entertainments Highest-Paid Men”.

The Hollywood renaissance man got his start back in 2005 when he lept onto the big screen with a colorful character by the name of Madea.  Perry, a multi talented man played the role so well that a few didn’t notice that he was actually a man dressed in drag.  movie and television mogul Tyler Perry.

This means that Tyler even beat out Director Steven Spielberg who comes in 3rd on the list  with 107 Million dollars after a three year hiatus.

Tyler Perry

Here is “Forbes’” list of “Entertainment’s Highest-Paid Men”
   1. Tyler Perry (130-million dollars)
   2. Jerry Bruckheimer (113-million dollars)
   3. Steven Spielberg (107-million dollars)
   4. Elton John (100-million dollars)
   5. Simon Cowell (90-million dollars)
   6. James Patterson (84-million dollars)
   7. Dr. Phil McGraw (80-million dollars)
   8. Leonardo DiCaprio (77-million dollars)
   9. Howard Stern (76-million dollars)
   10. Tiger Woods (75-million dollars)Los Angeles:

Oprah, has set Dr. Phil up for life… Poor Tiger, his funds are dwindling..

Perry will next make a rare appearance in a film he didn’t direct, write and produce. He’ll take up the mantle of author James Patterson’s detective Alex Cross in the movie I, Alex Cross. Morgan Freeman played the detective in two earlier films: Along Came a Spider and Kiss the Girls.

Located in Atlanta, Tyler Perry is the only black person to have his own film studio and he may just be getting his OWN cable network soon. He has not done bad.  Not bad at all for a man who once called his car home sleeping in it on the streets of Georgia.

You know Spike Lee is somewhere sick with it right now, jumping up and down, talking about F. Yo  Couch N#gga!

lol Spike is better behind the camera that’s for sure, he needs to get with folks who bring forth stories that people want to see and hear. Tyler made a killing. I’d like to see someone else come up though, we need a black Spielberg or James Cameron type I swear.

Get off your black power soapbox, you’re left field and dead wrong. You can’t name one black director that has done the types of flicks that James Cameron has. All i’m saying is i’d like to see one who does because I know they exist somewhere. Raising the black fist and straight up dead wrong smh.

Cant hate the hustle…white ppl have always enjoyed the ‘minstrel show’…he just figured out a way to exploit black ppl via film…but we dont see it…this is just a perfect example of ‘the willie lynch syndrome’…the feminizing of black men was a critical piece in the letter (see how to raise a slave)…women are critical in this equation…im NOT BLAMING WOMEN…but you dont see men in large groups going to see his films…basic divide and conquer…a man dressed as a woman…okay we have had other actors in drag…but how many had children in the roles they played?? (the browns)…its not hollywood…its hollyWIERD…ijs.

Like I said before ruff & tuff with my afro puffs went Malcolm Plexx, I would love to see black directors like the two I stated. The way that they get to use science and technology is like that. That’s why I support the Underworld franchise, the black dude with the deep voice in the movie wrote that.

I’m pretty sure Spike isn’t angry at this whatsoever. He understands the game. And he understands the politics of being on the Forbes magazine cover. It has nothing to do with money, but more about creating a false image with the intent to influence the ignorant. He’s being rewarded for being the best sheep herder.

Damn. I agree with Tywon. I myself don’t watch a lot of black movies cause I am tired of watching movies that are JUST LIKE paid in full or Boyz N the Hood. Black directors and writers have given up on trying to do new things, they just give the public a repeat of what they already liked. Tyler keeps producing the same kind of movie. either the momma is on drugs or dating a drug dealer and her good baby father is trying to save her. Or a good woman with a no good man finds a good man but she dont trust him because she’s been done soooo wrong by the previous man. I could care less about the dress, he was funny. Madea made some good points, but I just want to see Tyler diversify. We get the message on keeping God in our lives, now can you give us another message? How about showing more entrepeuners[sp], or telling a different story. I’m black, I didn’t grow up around pimps hoes and hoods. Can we have something for the middle class?

And School Daze was not about how light skinned people were better. It was showing how black people keep thinking that light is right, but we’re all black. Funny thing is Spike thinks like you Aijalon, all he wants is to educated black people and show that ALL black is beautiful.

Glad Tyler is getting money and putting black folks to work. I even like some of his movies however I think he needs to go on a limb and diversify what he puts out. I don’t watch a lot of church plays for the same reason. Everything is recycled from whomever is hot at the moment. You want good black film check out Mooz-lum or a series like Chrysalis: An Urban Web Series
