As if you needed another story to remind you that life is not fair. Here is yet another one. Brian McCarthy son of Millionaire Robert McCarthy President of the Marriott Hotel Fortune just won $107 million from the Virginia lottery. He no longer has to kiss his parents butt or work hard and be responsible ever again.
After recently moving back into his parents house, the 25-year-old bachelor bought five tickets on a whim at the Herndon, Va., grocery store Giant. He had gone in to use the ATM and bought five tickets without even knowing how much the prize money was. He didn’t even pick personal lucky numbers, letting the computer pick them for him.
A few days later, he checked Facebook for the winning numbers and got the surprise of a lifetime.
“I jumped out of bed, poured my wallet out and looked at the numbers and I had the ticket,” McCarthy told ABC’s Washington D.C. affiliate WJLA.
McCarthy chose to take the lump sum instead of receiving the money in yearly payments over the course of 26 years. The lump sum totaled $68 million before taxes.
“I’d like my family to be able to enjoy it as much as I can. And also help out some charities along the way,” McCarthy said.
At the time, McCarthy was working as an account manager for Pepsi. He has since left that job.
Just to rub it in…. Brian went out and bought himself a M3 BMW, took a golfing trip to Ireland, took his sister on a trip to Alaska and individually donated $25,000 to two separate charities including a local charity for youth.
Brian’s father Robert doesn’t sound too excited:
“It’s a surreal feeling…… a lot of good things with it….. but it also comes with a serious amount of responsibility.”
Something tells me that his dad was trying to teach him some discipline and responsibility and now thanks to the lottery winnings those efforts will be redundant…. Brian probably threw up the deuces and moved out the next day!
Brian’s grandma is also unfazed by the news:
“I said, ‘Hey grammy, I won the lottery,’ and she said, ‘Good for you. You deserve it…I’m making a grilled cheese, would you like one?’”
LOL. I like his granny.
THE QUESTION: Does the law of attraction have anything to do with this?
I wish Brian would drop $10,000 off on my paypal button… That’s some good charity..

He got 68 million as one lump sum payment instead of taking 30 year annual payments, he still has to pay taxes on the 68 mill. After taxes his net check will be just over 40 million.
