OMGosh. I came across this photo and I was absolutely horrified and taken aback. Especially since I just got done reading a article on  a ring of child p0hn-0-graphers who were recently arrested by the FEDS.. The ring was centered online and members had to upload disturbing photos of kids bi-weekly in order to maintain their membership to the site.

Born in the Ivory Coast, Thylane Lena-Rose Blondeau had already walked the runway for a major fashion designer Jean-Paul Gauthier by the time she was 5 years old.  She has been compared to Sixties model Brigitte Bardot – who at the age of 15 appeared in ELLE.  Little Tylane Blondeau is destined to become a Top Fashion Model.

But her latest over sexualized images in French Vogue, complete with heavy make-up and stiletto heels  may have catapulted Thylane to fame a lot sooner than expected. It has also caused public outrage and worry that these images will cause young girls to increase their focus on trying to attain a flawless magazine quality body. 

Chloe Angyal, editor of Feminsting.com, was disgusted by the photos:

“This isn’t edgy. It’s inappropriate, and creepy, and I never want to see a nine-year-old girl in high-heeled leopard print bedroom slippers ever again.”

Of course there are those that defend such photos as works of art. According to an Associate Professor of Psychology at Arizona Sate, photos like these are easy bait for a child pornographer:

“Any creepy child pornographer could plead ‘artistic license. [The photos] clearly create an image of the girl as an adult woman, both in the clothing, the postures and emotional content of the images. The message is that very young girls can be dressed and viewed as young adult women.”

Thylane is the daughter of former French international football player Patrick Blondeau , and Véronika Loubry (left), an actress and television presenter.

Yesterday, Thylane’s mother shut down her official facebook page so that she could shield her daughter from the media’s negative reaction. She wrote on facebook:

“Hey guys im the mum of thylane. Something’s going wrong at the moment with thylane and bad personn in usa about pictures she made 8 months ago for Vogue. Thylane doesn’t know about the buzz and I want to protect her from the deepest of my heart. She’s so young, so we are going to close this account for a while. I know all of you are good person who like her so I send you a big kiss. thanks”

No matter what one would like to say. The top image may cause a unwilling man to have feelings that he would usually feel when looking at a adult female photo. One would have to feel uncomfortable.. That means the make-up and posture of the photo are not ok. I had the nerve to think the child beauty pageants had taken the sexualisation of pre-pubescent girls too far. I’m a beauty connoisseur and I say this is not art!! She is a stunningly beautiful girl. But without the heavy use of make-up would I still be referring to her as “stunning?” No, I would not.. Too soon for make-up. Most of her facebook fans were probably perverts.. O_O
