Former scrawny man Dave Chappelle made an attempt to perform stand up on Friday in Miami at NBA star Alonzo Mourning’s Summer Groove charity event. Dave was said to have new muscles but no new jokes. He cracked one joke and went back and forth with audience members for the rest of the show. One woman yelled at him to crack a joke so that they could laugh. The sympathetic audience tried to amp him up but he was eventually booed off stage.
CNN analyst Roland Martin attended and tweeted about Dave’s antics as they occurred:
“This Dave Chappelle set is bizarre. He’s spent more time going back & forth with one audience member, & pretty much stopped telling jokes. One woman just yelled, “Can you tell a joke so we can enjoy ourselves!” He got texted four times during his show and actually checked them. I’m just not understanding what threw him off. He’s complained about folks videotaping his set, yelling out loud. I don’t get it. “This crowd is as serious as hell,” he says.
Dave, we’re trying to figure out what we’ve listened to for the last 25 minutes. Chappelle says this is a “test of wills.” He keeps saying “tick tock” & he has “nothing but time.” He’s just staring at the crowd & sighing. “As s—ty as the show is, I can’t wait to explain this on CNN.” Dave Chappelle complaining about a guy taping his whole show.
Then Dave started talking to me, asking if I was putting this on CNN. Yes, from the stage! He’s been on stage 46 minutes & told one joke. He kept saying “I respect your work.” And then said, He’ll send me a tape of his better comedy work. This is a trip! One of Chappelle’s folks told me he hates hecklers, and that totally threw him off. And every little thing that happened just took him off.”
Soumds like Dave needs to take another trip back to Africa… Maybe he is just having stage fright… Who knows. Let’s all be glad that DVR players were invented. We can all pop a DVD in and watch Dave Chappelle tell actual jokes. I most certainly hope drugs are not the culprit behind this failed performance. I’m sorry Dave Chappelle but right now you are a NON MOTHE#CKIN FACTOR!

He’s going through some ish. Everyone goes through hard times eventually. Doesn’t mean he is no longer funny. Still is one of the funniest comedians ever.

Must be a bunch of Stans on here, if the dude wasn’t funny, he wasn’t funny. I guess Roland was lying the other day when he was tweeting, I guess others in attendance lied too O_o I’m calling my homies down the Zo joint to tell them they don’t know what funny is, smh.

That is my dude right there. Dave Chappelle is a smart man. He had an agenda in his material though and the Media Moguls didn’t like it. These Corporate fools simply wait for you to get popular using your own material but eventually they start to control the material. They tried to do this with Dave and he wasn’t having it. That is why he had his own show to begin with! Most people sell out under corporate pressure Dave didn’t. That is something everyone should find admirable. Don’t talk smack unless you know the real deal folks. Don’t dis a person who deserves to be honored!
